Xiaomi has finally announced the launch date of its latest premium smartphone, the Xiaomi 14, in India. The device, which features a Leica-branded camera system, will be unveiled on March 7, 2024, as confirmed by the company on its official X account.
The Xiaomi 14 is one of the first smartphones to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, which offers blazing-fast performance and 5G connectivity. The phone also sports a 6.63-inch LTPO display with FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, which can adjust according to the content being displayed.
But the main attraction of the Xiaomi 14 is its camera setup, which has been co-engineered with Leica, the renowned German optics company. The phone boasts a 50-megapixel primary sensor with OIS and a Summilux lens, a 50-megapixel telephoto camera, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. The phone also has a 32-megapixel selfie camera on the front.
The Xiaomi 14 also comes with an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, a 4,610mAh battery with 90W fast charging and 50W wireless charging support, and a USB 3.2 port for fast data transfer. The phone runs on HyperOS, a custom Android skin based on AOSP, which offers a smooth and minimalist user interface.
The Xiaomi 14 was launched in China in October 2023, and will make its global debut at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) on February 25, 2024. The phone is expected to compete with other flagship devices such as the iQOO 12, the OnePlus 12, and the Samsung Galaxy S24 in the Indian market.
The pricing and availability details of the Xiaomi 14 in India are yet to be revealed, but it is likely to be in the same range as the Xiaomi 13 Pro, which was launched at Rs 74,999 last year. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra, which is a more advanced version of the Xiaomi 14 with a 120W fast charging and a 10x optical zoom, is also set to launch in China on February 22, 2024, but there is no word on whether it will come to India or not.
